I entered a contest on AcademyArtVenture's channel on YoutTube and to my surprise I ended up being one of the lucky winner's. I won a free painting (my choice) giveaway. Kyle painted my dog Sofi with Chicago buildings coming out of her harness and the Chicago cityscape. The painting was delivered right away free of charge. :O) He captured Sofi's personality perfectly, even though it was his first time painting a dog. The Chicago cityscape came out pretty cool too. I cant wait to put it up on my wall when I move to Chicago:O) Watch the making of Sofi in Chicago:O) Watch me opening my prize with my cute dog Sofi:O) Acrylic on Canvas by Kyle McGuigan
Letting Go

I had the image of this painting in my mind for quite a while and I finally decided to paint it on a canvas. The inspiration for this painting comes from my emotions. I allowed my mind to travel to a beautiful place where I can feel peace with no worries and no fear. The girl sitting on the green sheet is in a meditation position surrounded by nature and its beauty. With her arm extended to the blue sky she feels at peace with herself while she is finally letting go of the harm that was consuming her life. The six balloons that are being consumed by the cloud are her worries. The cloud is becoming darker with every worry that the girl lets go of. The six balloons in this painting were chosen because of a tradition in Guatemala. The tradition is to give someone tiny worry dolls if they can’t sleep. In order for the worry to pass the person that cant sleep must tell the doll their worries, so that the doll will worry instead. Six worry dolls are sold together. It’s su

My original concept about animals evolving toward humanness and some humans devolving turned into another painting. My new painting is about our mother earth suffering from the pollution that we set upon her. We are her disease. You can see that the haziness of the pollution is taking over the entire city and it will soon take over the fresh forest. The water and sand are already affected. Click here to bid on this painting.

Hey everyone! Its been a bit. My life has been filled with many ventures driving to Miami and NY. Now that I am finally back home. I have a new concept for my next big project. Its about animals evolving toward humanness and some humans devolving. I came up with this concept two months ago and I finally want to put it on a canvas. I want to use a chimp as the animal that is out-evolving a human. This reminds me of the movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes with James Franco and Tom Felton. I saw it in theaters a few days ago and it really inspired me to create this piece even more. Stay tuned. :O) A scene of the movie. So cute!

Reach For Your Dreams (2011) (22 x 28 inches: Oil On Gallery Stretched Canvas) Go After Your Dreams You're good, but you're going to be great. You're the best, but you're going to get better. Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember: those are always the ones that lead to the most beautiful views. Challenges come along inevitably: how you respond to them determines who you are - deep down inside - and everything you're going to be. Increase the chances of reaching your goals by working at them gradually. The very best you can do is all that is asked of you. Realize that you are capable of working miracles of your own making. Remember that opportunities have a reason for knocking on your door, and the right ones are there for the taking. You don't always have to win, but you do need to know what it takes to be a winner. It's up to you to find the key that unlocks the door to a more fulfilling

A family friend was diagnosed with brain tumors. He applied for health insurance coverage and unfortunately he was denied. My family took action and organized a fundraiser on his behalf. I also took charge and created this beautiful painting for a lucky raffle winner for the fundraiser. The event was very successful and my art was acknowledged in front of my family. And the painting goes to Stalin(my cousin)!!:O) Here is the painting for the fundraiser. I painted Free in a couple of hours the night before the fundraiser. The model for this painting is a photograph that I found on this site http://www.horse-wallpaper.com/preview.asp?id=122 I chose this picture because it reminds me of being free with not a care in the world and the horse shows its beauty and strength. My decision to paint a horse also came from knowing the admiration that my family and their friends have for horses.

Yesterday was a full day all about art. The day started with the Miami Art Museum. When I entered the museum, the first thing that caught my eye was an installation of buckets. My first thought was, "Is there a roof leak?” There were buckets hanging from the ceiling and buckets on the floor. The hanging buckets were full of water that dripped into the buckets on the floor. The name of the installation is "Rain Rains" (2002), it is the work of the Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander. In my opinion this piece represents the inability of man to have control over nature and that is why he created an artificial rain environment. The museum is filled with immersive art installations. I Wish Your Wish (2003) is a part of that collection and it is by the same artist mentioned above. The art display is created with over one thousand hanging ribbons. The ribbons are printed with wishes from past visitors. In order to participate, visitors must write their own wi

Hey its me with a huge smile right before I went to the art gallery. That smile was stuck on my face for the rest of the night. I left with Mat at around 5:45PM, so we got there at the perfect time. There was plenty of parking! Usually it takes a year to park. I walked into Renditions and saw all the art work and I was amazed. There was so many artists with all kinds of styles. My work was also hung up perfectly on the wall. My special painting that is dedicated to my boyfriends grandfather Angel Menendez was placed on my easel for better viewing. Watching everyone's reactions to the paintings was loads of fun, especially my painting Drowning in the Storm. A lot of people stopped and stared with amazement and had many things to say about that painting. While looking at others work, I saw a few paintings that looked familiar. Its a small work after all, its a small world after all!!! Its a small, small, world!! It turns out t

This painting is very meaningful to me in many ways. Sometimes we forget about how beautiful nature is because of many distractions that we have in our lives today. I painted the tree and the nest with real wood. The young girls hair also has some wood pieces. The girl is rediscovering nature and she becomes one with nature. Her hair is becoming the mountains, grass, lavender, tree, the sky, and her hands are becoming the birds nest. She is sitting on the earth and melting into it. The bird is resting on her knee to show the trust that she has in the girl by allowing her to hold her nest. She has never felt so close to nature before. She is finally One With Nature. Light Sketch:O) I started the painting from the top . My Version of Starry Night Over the Rhone by Vincent Van Gogh

"It often seems to me that the night is much more alive and richly colored than the day." ~ Vincent Van Gogh The quote above was a quote written by Van Gogh to his brother Theo, explaining his enthrallment with the night. My fascination with the night sky and the stars is as rich as Vincent Van Gogh's love for the night. One night many years ago, I went to get something from the porch and I saw something in the sky. At first I thought it was a plane with its flickering lights, but it did not move through the sky. Maybe it was an alien ship with many colors? No, it couldn't be. As I stared at the sky for over an hour and imagined all the things that it could be, I finally accepted that it was a star. I did not know that a star could twinkle with every color of the rainbow. It was then that I realized the beauty of the night sky and the stars. On a different occasion about a year ago I drove down to Miami with Mat and our dog Sofi. I stared out of
